Mature Works, how far can you push it

Journal Entry: Mon Dec 22, 2008, 11:34 AM

Someone reported this: [link] as being mature and needing a mature tag.

I'm actually surprised because nothing is showing/tits are covered with fur. Shouldn't a lot of pictures in my gallery depicting anthros without clothes on (no nips/genitals showing) be marked as mature too? But I accept it. think DA is finally starting to crack down on what they find mature/underage/other and what they don't.

So this brings up a question, how much 'skin' showing in an image does it take for you to get offended? No sarcasm implied. How far do you think a picture should go before it crosses the border into censorship? I'm genuinely interested :3

Edit: Im not ragging on DA admins for making me put a mature tag on something in one bit, just wondering what people actually do consider mature to be since someone reported my image. I'm not mad in the least :> just curious.

Nakedness really doesn't seem that mature to me until it gets to the "below the belt" area. Before that, I don't see the need for censorship. =/

The no nips and genitals thing is called Semi-nude and i don't think its mature since alot of cartoon characters are Semi-nude.

I would fufill my potential would but then it would cut into my sitting around time.

for me, anything in the crotch area is where I draw the line unless it's got a censor bar.

I agree with hoodlumd. But for the sake of many young minds it's probably a good Idea to say that if boobs or anything below is showing it should be mature. But what I mean by showing is FULL nipple, not fur covered, If it's covered in fur then it should be fine because it's still covered.

There are so many grotesque images of "nude" art on DA and there is true artistic types. however it seems to be that there are people that go around and deliberately get offended by art and get it marked as mature because they are eager to get a rise out of popular artists.

You don't see them marking the tons of lesser artists works who are much worse then yours being marked as mature.

I don't really think the plain simple naked body IS mature at all really, EVERYONE has genitals, and everyone has nipples, some people even have 3 BD so personally, a naked anthro with no nipples or genitals showing doesen't seem very sexually mature at all. If people don't want their kids seeing mature things, they shouldn't let them on the internet. and If DA doesen't want people seeing nude bodies, then they shouldn't allowed 13 year olds on the site, but they do that anyways don't they?

They took Micheal phelps off the box of Frosted flakes for smoking pot. but i'm going to guess that if you're over 10 and eating frosted flakes after 10 am, weed is probably involved.

I dont think anthro creatures, or any creature, person, anime, whatever, if they show no nips, or genitals, then it shouldnt matter. its not mature content because there is nothing to see. If the person sees the picture and goes "mmm. that would be yummy with some stuff showing" mkay. thats their choice, but just because someone can take it to the extreme of reporting it and sayin it should be matured is rediculus. So what if you can interpret the image yourself?> isnt that what all art IS? i can understand alot of stock photos being matured because you CAN see nips and gens. But that picture you posted, can be the same as those anime chicks that have like no shirt on, their like celestial beings or just because whatever, but they have no cothes on, but show nothing. And alot of people don care about those. they dont mark em as mature. thats a norm for a lot of people. DA should really DEFINE what they mean by mature. Because thats really stupid to listen to a report from someone and the pictures shows nothing o.O A lot of people report stuff just to be pains int he butts.
:iconsonitweek:
that is a good question... lot of my works been reported as mature and wow when you check DA Front page with all those naked picture... I dunno, where is the point?

Well, for me mature is when you really can see genitals parts of when you can understand what is going on the picture.
:iconginpu:
What? Wow... Shit. Let's put mature tags on everything. Including Bugs Bunny! [link]

Sheesh. below the belt, mark it. Boobs are boobs. I mean look at the way some 13 year olds dress today... Shouldn't that be marked Mature?!?

:iconzhaneel:
For me, personally? I don't care if they're totally nude. It's when it crosses the line into the blatantly pornographic that I don't like it, when the "art" is something that's only been created to show genitals in a gratuitous manner. However, if a photograph is depicting even the actual act of sex in a manner that's respectful, and meant to show the emotion that goes along with it, then I don't have a problem with it. It's the exploitation that I have a problem with.
